Aim of the project: Cheap and good quality adjustable Aprilia RS 125 Foot Pegs.

Description: One of my friends who owns the same bike as me started going to the track and asked me if I could find a solution to reverse the gears and have a better position on the bike.

Looking online at the prices of aftermarket foot pegs I noticed that there were some starting from €120, with very bad reviews due to the cheap quality materials and numerous breakages (Not not safe at all), for a good quality CNC milled set of fully adjustable foot pegs price was over €300.

Given this, and taking the first measurements on the bike, I drawn down various designs, having in mind to make them with laser cutting for a significant saving on production costs, as they must be functional, not beautiful.

After finding out that the costs for only the 5 plates for the foot pegs was above 80€ and I still need to add pedal bushings, return rod, bolts and nuts and rear brake spacer, I decided to switch to another idea...

So I need to find a cheaper way to move away the pedals from the frame, for that I designed a spacer, estimated production costs with laser cut was under 25€ and it can do a similar job to the fully regulable foot pegs.

This spacer can be used on every Aprilia RS 125 model from 1992 to 2012 as the frame is near the same.

Results: I found the solution to the problem by spending less than a fourth of the cheapest solution and having a quality product that lasts over time with a simplified design and a lot less parts.

Unfortunately, after waiting weeks and several apologies from my mediator with the company that was supposed to make these spacers for me, I decided to quit this project.

Less than a year later, I found out that someone was selling the same laser-cutted spacers, with my same design and the same shape (Also the central hole), I then found out that the intermediate that I was using for interfacing with the factory leaked the design.

Given this, I decided to release this "dog-bone" spacers for free.

For using this spacers is required to have a more long return rod (Reverse shift can be done rotating 180° the connection to the gearbox) is also needed a a spacer for the rear brake fluid reservoir.

Rear brake fluid reservoir spacer (thickness= 2/3mm).

Price for 10 foot pegs spacers with shipping costs is €167.73 so 33.5€ for a pair + customs duties.

Simulation carried out in the worst case scenario (longer lever arm), with a force of 3900N for each foot, preload of the bolts on the frame is 55Nm and preload of bolts for the foot pegs is 30Nm, using also the frame as support like in the original foot pegs, tickness is 10mm and can be reduced more, material is AL6061.
